Foaming at the mouth
Yes, I actually thought that I was foaming at the mouth during a run in a heavy storm with a wind gust of 30mph. I went to wipe the rain off my face, only to discover a big pile of white suds on my hand. I asked my running buddy to check out my face. Thank goodness I was foam free at the mouth, and relieved that I didn’t have rabies. I searched in other parts of my body and discovered the foamy substance came from my pants. Apparently I had used too much laundry detergent and it did not rinse out well. With all the rain it brought out the soapy goodness. I can honestly say that I have never had that experience and will now add it to my list that is titled “Leave it to Alisyn.”
I would be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed with the last couple of weeks of my training program. After getting an MRI for my left ankle, my right foot started to act up. An orthopedist, a physical therapist, and an elite runner have all informed me that I have taken an aggressive approach to my marathon training and it is the last eight months that are finally now catching up to me. Thus, I need to rest. How can I rest when I am so close to running my first marathon come January? I am excited, and scared, and feel that I am not ready to tackle this beast quite yet. I have had a series of good over 20 mile runs and one not so good.
I will however continue to “Just keep swimming, Just keep swimming" and hope for the best. Looking back at 2010 I have accomplished so much in such a short period of time, and I am very happy overall. I don’t want to bore you with my overwhelming list, but here are just a few milestones that I am happy to share.
- Ran 3 half marathons improving my time with each race.
- Placed 2nd overall, 1st female overall in a 5k race with a fantastic PR.
- Ran by myself for over 10 miles.
- Just recently ran a race and turned off the competitive side to just enjoy the course. Easier said than done I can assure you.
Sweet Victory for placing 2nd overall! |
Might not seem like much, but they are still my small victories, and nobody can take that away from me. That’s the thing about running…I never quite know what will be in store, but love the challenge of the journey that will set me up for success all the same! Yes, injuries and foam included.
the foaming at the mouth part is too funny! glad i've found your blog!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you actually did run in that RAIN! You go, Alisyn! and multi-tasking with doing laundry at the same time! Hahaha! Too funny!
ReplyDeleteAlisyn, kick back and enjoy the taper. You're going to do great no doubts here tho you might want to cut back on suds the week prior.
ReplyDeleteFunny post. Enjoyed it!
Foaming running pants, now that is funny! Good luck with the marathon in January. Enjoy your taper and allow your body to fully recover from all the training. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the post format as you create user engagement in the complete article. It seems round up of all published posts. Thanks for gauging the informative posts.
