Cloud 9
Sunday
I participated in the DSE 6 Hour Distance Classic and 5k event! Oh what
fun it was! So lovely to see so many friends and familiar faces out
there running in circles! I even got to meet and run with the notorius
Pavement Runner. The weather at Crissy Field in San Francisco was
perfect. Foggy and not too cold nor hot, but just right. Just call me
Goldilocks!
The 6 Hour Challenge course was 1.16 loop. Before the 5k, I did 2.33 warm-up miles. One was with a familiar face; Cassandra, I had met while volunteering at The Way Too Cool race. The other was with with the fabulous Katie. I then stepped away to run the 5k race. As everyone knows, my pace is nowhere near where it once was, or even where I like it to be. So, this was a competition against myself, pushing to eventually get back to my 5k PR which was a 21:35. .I couldn’t be happier with my performance finishing at 24 minutes exactly. I finished 7th female and 44th overall. I felt really good and happy that I am seeing progress! Back at the the 6 hour course which was right next to the 5k finish line, I then ran 5.33 miles more with the peeps! It was certainly a fun way to get my miles in at a well organized and supported run. The Race Director was a riot to boot and I enjoyed heckling with him. Overall, it was a great morning!
As
a DSE member for the second year, it was my goal to be a more active
participant with the club. But sadly, this was my first event of the
year! I know, bad Alisyn! There really is no excuse, but I must
say, that regardless of being a regular to race events or not, the staff
and crew are always so nice and supportive! Running love right there
folks! No words! Thanks DSE for allowing me to be apart of your running
family!
I am really pleased with my training this last week. I am currently building a base before I start up Marathon training for CIM.
Seeing my dailymile record makes me smile. 31 miles of running and one mile of swimming. I also did my core and stretching, but I need to also make time to get some yoga into the mix as well! It’s important after all!
Anyway, I end last week once again on cloud 9! Hooray!!!
