Just Jiking

In my eye’s there is nothing better than running trails. Well that, and some yummy wine tasting after! Picchetti Winery Ranch in Cupertino certainly provides the best of both worlds.

I met up with my friend Kelle who was just easing back into running after completing the San Francisco Marathon. We took it easy and enjoyed all that the trails had to offer. An easy four, we ran through shaded canopies of trees and sunny spots with views from the top overlooking Stevens Creek Reservoir and beyond. Starting on the Zinfandel Trail you can choose to run a short or longer distance with the connecting trails of Fremont Older and Stevens Creek Reservoir.

Kelle looking fab on the trails!
The reward? Well, beside the gorgeous views on the tricky one track terrain, and animal sightings of chickens, bunnies, lizards, snakes and peacocks you can head on into the tasting room for some yummy red and white wine tasting! The perfect way to end a beautiful trail run if you ask me!

I want Chickens! I really do!
This week marked the first official week of CIM training. And what a shitty week for training it has been. Well, not entirely. I was able to explore some beautiful trails of Placerville and beyond to Tahoe. The weather was hot hot hot so I managed to hit Jenkinsen Lake for quite a few swims, so really, the only thing I can complain about is my running performance. But, sometimes that is how the cookie crumbles. Instead of dwelling or look down upon myself, I just move on and grateful to start the cycle all over again next week!

Running in Strawberry with katie! Elevation training.
Well deserved beer after a trail run and lovely swim in the lake.
