Faster than a Speeding Bullet

That moment when you realize another holiday season is upon us and we say goodbye to another year!

Spoiler alert: This post has nothing to do with running fast and everything to do with slowing down!

Remember when we were kids? Time went by so slowly. It practically dragged! I could not wait to be an adult. To kiss my first boy. To drive without any adult supervision. To not be that awkward looking kid anymore. And yes, I truly believe we all had an awkward stage. If you managed to avoid it, dare I say there is still time…? Yes, time back then was endless, a never ending story of wishing and hoping that I could just be older...And then I was.

And now, time seems to move at the speed of light moving far too fast for my taste. Gray hairs are now popping up in between overpriced dye appointments. Wrinkles are making their grand debut on a face that I thought would be flawless forever. Mail is starting to arrive from AARP. (AARP if you’re reading this, please save a tree. I am not old enough to qualify for your plan just yet). And as I blossom even more into adulthood, I can’t help but wonder why I was in such a hurry to grow up. Why I was in a hurry to do anything at all.

With the send off to yet another year, I am reminded even more so to take in the little pleasures of all that life has to offer. To try and stay in the moment and not stress of the worries of the future or be haunted by the past. I will continue to never lose faith in the person I am who would never lie or cheat just to get ahead. Even though I was treated just, I am reminded that these are the people who I avoid at all costs. These types are certainly not role models paving the path as leaders in the industry, but merely lessons and examples of what not to be.

And of course, I apply all of this to everything I do in life that also includes running. Remaining in the moment, never losing faith, staying true to myself, and paving the path are certainly keywords picked out of the above paragraph that will be applied. If I made New years resolutions, then these words would be it and I will practice them daily. Or, at least try to include them as a daily mantra.
