In the past few weeks, a lot has happened, but then again, it doesn’t seem like all that much.
Here are some highlights -
The San Francisco Marathon crashes Fleet Feet Fair Oaks Pub Run held at the Fat Rabbit in old Folsom. Some sweet swag was given out and one lucky winner even walked away with a free entry in the this years race event!!
Want to get in on the action? You can use code DSC10TSFM2014A3 upon registering. I would love to see you! Come run the Golden Gate Bridge with me!
Oh yes, and I was also a guest blogger. Check out my post all about eating real food on the run!
In other news, I took a nasty fall out on the trails. I have been falling a lot in the last year. A friend suggested it might be my sunglasses. My sunglasses are prescription as I am very very near sided. I also have this weird eye phobia thing where I can’t really put anything in my eyes. So contacts are not an option. Perhaps, I just need to overcome my fear and try out the contacts. Besides falling, the sunglasses are a bit of a pain anyway. Another nasty fall goes down in the books. And then I had beer so it was a happy ending all just the same.

I just celebrated another birthday! In some races, I am now in another age division. If they were doing it in five instead of ten year increments that is. Even though I am older with grey hair sprouting up and a wrinkle or two poking through, I still feel like that immature 25 year old. Growing up bites. Hard to believe that when I was a kid I couldn’t wait to grow up!

I had a few birthday celebrations with friends that included running and beer. Would you expect anything less? When I was in my 20’s, I didn’t care so much for beer but did love a good glass of wine. Now, in my 30’s, it is like I am almost obsessed with a good pint of beer. Don’t get me wrong, I still love my wine, but there is something about beer that I crave. My favorites are Belguims and
IPA’s! What are yours?
That's a good thought about your sunglasses: I stopped wearing sunglasses on the trails because it seemed a lot harder to see rocks and roots. However, my (super cheap) running sunglasses are polarized, so that might be a factor. Maybe try running with your regular eyeglasses, just to see if the lens color makes a difference? I think you'd be amazed by contacts, though. I've never run in my eyeglasses, but mine are very bad so I can't imagine struggling with limited peripheral vision. It's a marvelous thing to not have to move your whole head in order to see something!
ReplyDeleteAnd welcome to the new age group! Ugh, those damn white hairs are going to be the death of me. Oh well, at least I know I'm in good company. :-)
